Nestled on the shores of Lake Starnberg, Villa Lakeside embodies the precision of meticulous planning paired with timeless artisanry – harmonising historical architecture with contemporary design. Panoramic views of lake and greenery are choreographed into the living experience, making the location itself an essential spatial element. This project exemplifies our philosophy of rendering architecture future-ready – both energetically and aesthetically – through thoughtful renovation rather than demolition.

SURFACES, CONTRASTS & SPATIAL DRAMATURGY
A hand-forged staircase railing, a sculptural flooring composition made of three interwoven types of stone – classic forms, reinterpreted for today. Wall panelling in noble woods and features like the refurbished fireplace highlight the tactile richness of the space. While the historic Zirbenstube was gently restored with its natural patina preserved, the winter garden strikes a contrasting note with natural stone flooring and a ceiling wallpaper of birds in a sky-blue canopy – a poetic homage to the surrounding landscape.

MATERIALS & ONE-OF-A-KIND CREATIONS
Every detail in this project is bespoke: from custom-cast brass and bronze fittings to handcrafted porcelain luminaires and basins made by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Nymphenburg. The materials palette blends local craftsmanship – like the preserved wooden shingle roof – with carefully selected international design pieces, always prioritising longevity and sensory appeal.
“Every square millimetre is thoughtfully considered – precision over pomp.”
