Clear yet playful, open yet discreet – the garden design of this classical villa in Munich’s Bogenhausen district is a subtle choreography of contrasts.
LIVING COMFORT
Island-like lounge settings and curated rest spots – featuring parasols, stools and side tables – add cheerful structure to poolside and terrace alike. A refined furniture mix by Spanish outdoor specialist Kettal animates the entire garden. The dress code? Cosy casual.
HOMELIKE ELEGANCE
Classic meets contemporary – and it works beautifully. The architecture called for a calm, coherent concept. Textiles and colour accents break up the symmetry with ease. The central terrace becomes a true outdoor living room, complete with softly contoured sofas, cushions, floor lamps and an outdoor rug. Because yes – even here, texture and atmosphere are not just allowed, they’re essential.
IMAGINATION
Dining alfresco? Ideally under a bespoke canopy and framed by romantic lighting suspended from its peak. The handcrafted Calypso lanterns by Contardi, with their colourful silk shades, bring exotic charm into the garden. A custom white wood table is paired with woven outdoor chairs by Kettal.
Balance
A grand staircase opens up to the villa’s private park. Symmetrical, structured and rhythmically composed – just as Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio once envisioned. What applied to his villas also applied to their gardens – and still does. Oversized planters, coordinated parasols and symmetrical seating underscore axial sightlines and reinforce the formal geometry.
DEPTH AND DIMENSION
Mature trees turn the garden into a private park, while hedges and shrubs shape an almost enchanted atmosphere. Along the staircases and terraces, boxwood spheres, hydrangeas and laurel are arranged in generous containers. The tactile contrast of materials and varying textures of the planters by Ethimo lend the outdoor area a lively rhythm all its own.
