A WORKPLACE DESIGNED AROUND OPENNESS AND RESIDENTIAL COMFORT
Office Leitmotif reimagines the contemporary workplace by moving beyond the conventions of traditional office design. Across approximately 400 square metres in the centre of Munich, Egetemeier created an open corporate environment where employees, start-up teams, meetings, conferences and events coexist within a single architectural concept.
The objective was to design a flexible workplace that naturally accommodates different ways of working, collaborating and interacting. Rather than emphasising corporate formality, the interior creates an atmosphere more commonly associated with a private residence, combining openness, comfort and architectural clarity.
To achieve this, the existing office was completely stripped back and rebuilt. Located on the sixth floor, the space benefits from an almost penthouse-like character, generous glazing and panoramic views across Munich towards the Frauenkirche. Natural daylight, warm materials and bespoke architectural elements define the interior while creating a calm and welcoming workplace.

VISION – A WORKPLACE WITH THE ATMOSPHERE OF A PRIVATE INTERIOR
The design vision for Office Leitmotif was inspired by the qualities of contemporary residential interiors rather than conventional office environments. Instead of focusing on functionality alone, the concept places equal importance on atmosphere, materiality and the overall quality of the workspace.
Warm surfaces, natural materials and seamless transitions between different zones create an environment that feels open without sacrificing comfort. The design language remains understated and timeless, encouraging concentration, collaboration and wellbeing throughout the day.
Rather than being defined by traditional workplace typologies, the office is characterised by its spatial quality, residential warmth and carefully balanced architectural composition.

ARCHITECTURE AND SETTING AS PART OF THE SPATIAL CONCEPT
The office occupies the sixth floor of a historic building on Promenadeplatz in the heart of Munich. Its elevated position creates exceptional spatial quality with a distinctive penthouse atmosphere.
Large windows and a rooftop terrace provide expansive views across the city towards the Frauenkirche while allowing natural daylight to shape the interior throughout the day. This close relationship between architecture and daylight became a fundamental element of the overall design concept.
The open floor plan is structured around only a small number of load-bearing columns, creating fluid transitions between workspaces, meeting areas and social zones while maintaining a strong sense of openness across the entire office.

FLEXIBLE SPACES FOR MODERN WAYS OF WORKING
The project was designed around the idea that contemporary workplaces should support multiple forms of work and interaction within one coherent environment.
The spatial concept combines:
Focused workspaces
Informal meeting areas
Conference rooms
Event spaces
Collaborative social zones
A key objective was the deliberate reduction of traditional workplace hierarchies. Glass partitions introduce transparency without compromising privacy, encouraging communication while preserving the openness of the overall layout.
Different seating typologies — from lounge settings and sofas to café seating and bar stools — support a wide range of working styles and spontaneous interaction throughout the day.

MATERIALITY AND ATMOSPHERE AS THE DESIGN LANGUAGE
The material palette follows a clear and authentic design philosophy centred around brushed oak, burnished metal and textured bouclé fabrics.
Warm oak, soft beige and ecru tones establish a calm visual foundation, complemented by carefully placed accents in anthracite and black. Matte finishes reinforce the understated character of the interior while introducing tactile richness throughout the space.
The result combines Scandinavian functionality with a timeless contemporary approach to Corporate Interior Design.

THE RECEPTION AS THE SPATIAL CENTRE
The reception area forms the architectural heart of the office.
Circular timber slats establish a central focal point while subtly defining different functional areas within the open floor plan. This geometry continues into the parquet flooring, creating spatial order without compromising the openness and flexibility of the workplace.

CRAFTSMANSHIP AND BESPOKE MANUFACTURING
The project was realised through close collaboration between specialist craftspeople and skilled manufacturers.
Joiners, metal fabricators, blacksmiths and textile specialists worked together to develop bespoke solutions that seamlessly integrate functionality, craftsmanship and architectural quality. This attention to detail defines the character of the project at every scale.

EGETEMEIER'S ROLE
Egetemeier was responsible for the overall concept development, interior design, lighting and material concepts, bespoke furniture design, furniture specification and project coordination throughout the entire process.

By completely stripping back the existing space and rebuilding it from the ground up, we created an open environment that accommodates different ways of working while maintaining a calm, residential atmosphere. The project began with the complete strip-out of the existing office before being entirely reimagined. The result is a workplace that treats work not simply as a functional requirement, but as a spatial experience: open, flexible and characterised by the comfort and atmosphere of a private interior.
